THE EVEREST MARATHON
Jeroen Vandecasteele finished today, in one of the most mind-blowing marathons of all time, the Everest Marathon. He crossed the finishline in 7h37. The Everest Marathon which is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the highest marathon in the world took start at Gorak Shep 5184m (17,000 feet), close to Everest Base Camp in Nepal where todays temperature was about -15°C. TRAINING START UP
Last weeks were quite busy for me as a coach. There were a lot of start-ups, flights, a training camp in Lanzarote with the belgian paralympic team and also a team meeting with AWT-Greenway (where I met a lot of athletes for the first time). All athletes are relatively fresh again after their yearly rest period (approximately 3-4 weeks without specific training, read as full rest without a specific training program). It's now time to build up their 'shape' after the long rest
